Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate
Pantoprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor(PPI) which prevents the stomach from producing gastric acid. The inhibition is dose dependent & affects both basal & stimulated acid secretion. It exerts its pharmacodynamic actions by binding to the proton pump (H+,K+-adenosine triphosphatase) in the parietal cells, but, compared with other PPIs, its binding may be more specific for the proton pump. It is indicated in H2 blocker resistant Gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, Peptic Ulcers, NSAID-induced ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease & in supportive treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, alongside antibiotics.
