Sildenafil Citrate
Sildenafil is a potent and selective inhibitor of cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. Sildenafil acts by blocking phosphodiesterase 5 , an enzyme that promotes breakdown of cGMP, which regulates blood flow in the penis. It requires sexual arousal, however, to work. It also results in dilation of the blood vessels in the lungs. It is used primarily for Erectile Dysfunction, Sexual Dysfunction, Pulmonary Hypertension & Raynaud’s Phenomenon.
