Cefdinir for recent-onset pediatric neuropsychiatric disorders: A pilot randomized trial

As evident from some preceding studies, the unexplained sudden and severe onset of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or tics may be infection or immune precipitated. In addition to their antimicrobial efficacy the beta lactam antibiotics may proved to be neuroprotective. The following study examined the preliminary safety and efficacy of cefdinir in reducing obsessive-compulsive or tic severity in children with new-onset symptoms.
