Etamsylate& Tranexamic Acid
Etamsylate is a Haemostatic agent. It is a water-soluble non-steroidal drug that increases capillary endothelial resistance & promotes platelet adhesion by inhibiting biosynthesis of prostaglandins. Tranexamic acid acts by reversibly blocking lysine binding sites on plasminogen & thus preventing fibrin degradation. It is used in Prophylaxis & control of haemorrhages from small blood vessels, Neonatal intraventricular haemorrhage , Capillary bleeding of different etiology, including: Menorrhagia, Hematemesis, Melena, Hematuria, Prevention of periventricular Hemorrhages in prematurely born children.
