Domperidone Dispersible
Domperidone is peripherally selective dopamine D2 receptor antagonist used as an antiemetic, gastroprokinetic agent, and galactagogue. The medication provides relief from nausea by blocking D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone at the floor of the fourth ventricle . It increases motility in the upper gastrointestinal tract to a moderate degree and increases lower esophageal sphincter pressure by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastric antrum and the duodenum. It blocks dopamine receptors in the anterior pituitary gland increasing release of prolactin which in turn increases lactation. The drug is used to relieve nausea and vomiting associated with acute migraine; Post-Operative conditions; to increase the transit of food through the stomach; and to promote lactation by release of prolactin.
